Question Number: 16914Law 5 - The Referee 9/26/2007RE: REC Under 19 DOUG HART of INDIAN RIVER, MI CHEBOYGAN asks...WHO GOVERNS FOWL WEATHER POLICY, AND WHAT ARE THE PARRAMITERS, IE: RAIN, THUNDER, LIGHTNIG. ETC. THANKS FOR THE LAST RESPONSE, DOUG HART Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol Doug, better get your keyboard checked, it seems to be capable of only using upper case letters. That's considered online shouting, and makes it hard to read besides.
How are the tree colors up there?
Leagues have specific weather policies. For example, the competitive regional league in my area says that games are automatically canceled when there is a tornado watch or warning. Most leagues also have stated policies on lightning and thunder, but some leave it up to the discretion of the referee.
Games should be suspended immediately whenever you see or hear a storm anywhere around. Even if the sky is clear above you, lightning can travel great distances and can strike your field.
