Question Number: 17042

Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct 10/2/2007

RE: Rec Under 16

Joe Olenick of Falmouth , Ma. USA asks...

May a goaltender touch the ball outside the penalty area if his feet are still in the penalty area?

Thank you

Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol

Depends on how you mean touch. If the ball is outside the penalty area, the goalkeeper may not deliberately handle it.
