Question Number: 17056

Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct 10/2/2007

RE: Rec. Under 13

richard parsons of alto, nm usa asks...

my son who was on offense took a shot outside the penalty area, and collided with the keeper who was also outside the penalty area and was trying to get control of the ball?. (He can't touch the ball with his hands outside the penalty area). any-way the referee gave my son a yellow card for the contact because the keeper had control of the ball. The keeper should not have been trying to pick up the ball outside the area in the 1st place.

Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol

The referee evidently felt your son fouled the keeper in a reckless manner. That's a caution for unsporting behavior.
