Question Number: 17172Law 14 - Penalty kick 10/7/2007RE: Competive Under 14 Louie J. Gonzales of Oceanside , Ca USA asks...When a pentalty kick in the box is rewarded to a team and the shot is missed but they get to retake the shot because a player from the opposing team enter the box before the kick can they change the shooter on the retake? Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson Hi Louie, Yes they can change the shooter on the retake as long as he is eligable to do so ! Cheers

View Referee Keith Contarino profileAnswer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer Law 14 requires the player taking the penalty kick is properly identified before the kick is taken. If the kicker is changed make sure the goalkeeper knows he is the one taking the kick. That is the only requirement regarding who the kicker is.
