Question Number: 17213League Specific 10/9/2007RE: High School Anita Blondin of East Hampton, CT USA asks...Can my daughter play in her HS Varsity games wearing a cast on her wrist? Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol That will depend on how the CT school athletics authority has adopted the NFHS rules. Some states allow casts, others don't. If the cast is allowed, you must have a release signed by her doctor that states she is OK to play. And the cast must be padded.
Even if padded, the cast could be used inappropriately, and the referee would be correct to ask any player to leave the field. This is not a send-off, it is merely a case of something that the referee thought was safe has now become unsafe.
You might ask yourself, is playing in a game worth the risk of your daughter being reinjured?
