Question Number: 17292Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct 10/13/2007RE: rec soccer Under 11 michelle burkett of broken arrow , ok usa asks...My daughter had possession of the ball just outside opponent's goal box when an opposing player grabbed her shirt collar from behind and yanked. Should this player have been, in the least, awarded a yellow card? thank you. Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol While we were not there to see the play, from your description the player probably should have been cautioned. A year or two ago, FIFA made a point of reminding referees that blatant holding fouls should be called and cautioned.

View Referee Keith Contarino profileAnswer provided by Referee Richard Dawson Hi Michelle, if a referee with reasonable foul recognition actually SEES what you describe then at least a penal foul of holding, most likely a caution for a usb tactical foul show a yellow card. If the yank actually was forceful enough to endanger as in snap the neck or pull her down violently it could be a send off event for violent conduct and a red card shown. Cheers
