Franco Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer There are two offences that involve deliberately handling the ball, one is a sending-off offence and the other a direct free kick offence. Nearly all referees recognize the difference.

View Referee Chuck Fleischer profileAnswer provided by Referee Keith Contarino Franco, I know that YOU know when a player other than the keeper deliberately handles the ball, regardless of whether or not a goal is denied, that results in a direct or penalty kick depending upon where the handling took place.

View Referee Keith Contarino profileAnswer provided by Referee Ben Mueller If the handling the ball deliberatly occured in the penalty area, then , its a penalty kick. If it was outside the penalty area, then its a direct free kick.
