RE: Competive Adult

Michael of mb, ca USA asks...

Everyone always blaims the referee for a bad game but I saw a breakout showing the cause of "problem games"

It showed Coaches being the largest cause
Spectators being the 2nd
players being the 3rd
and
Referee's being the last

Have you seen this?
Can you send it to me if you have

Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson

No idea, but please send it to us if you do obtain the information/video?!
cheers

You know, I've never had a team come up to me and thank me for winning the game for them. I wonder why? There's plenty of their opponents who thought I had something to do with their loss.

Answer provided by Referee Steve Montanino

It often has to do with a team being unable or unwilling to admit that they have been beaten. So, they blame the referee for not giving them a level playing field. I would say that is true in only about 1% of the cases. Sure referees make mistakes, but it is really up to teams to win the games, and blaming the referee for losing the games doesn't do anyone any good, but I suppose it does provide an outlet for frustrations to a losing team AND it can offer an "excuse" to a losing team as well.
