Does the goalie have to take the goalkick or can it be any defensive player?

Any free kick during the match may be taken by any player on the side. There are no restrictions regarding who takes what free kick in the Laws. The only restriction is the player taking the free kick may not touch it a second time before it has touched another player.

It is a goal kick named for its location near to the goal. It is not a "goalie kick" as I so often hear on the fields in younger games. Any player may take the kick.
