Question Number: 17616League Specific 11/2/2007RE: Rec Under 6 Robin Mignano of Staten Island, NY USA asks...My daughter plays and I was wondering... Does under 6 switch sides at half time? I see that under six teams do not switch sides but my daughters team recently started switching while other teams do not. I was wonder what the rules is for under 6.
Thank you Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol They should. Never is a field exactly the same in both directions. This is especially true in rec u-littles, where fields are set up wherever they will fit, and maintenence may be sketchy at best. Also there are sun and wind conditions to consider.
However, one of the major coaching challenges at U6 is, "We're going THAT way now!" Some coaches would be happy if "that way" is the same way for the entire game. Consequently, some U6 rules might have modifications to keep the teams on the same end of the field for the whole game.
