Question Number: 17708Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct 11/5/2007RE: rec Under 9 john appleone of kernersville, nc usa asks...my son knocks people off the ball using his hips or shoulder. Sometimes knocking them down. No elbows or arms are used. He gets called for a foul. What is the ruling? Answer provided by Referee Michelle Maloney Hmm. It is possible that what he is doing is not considered playing for the ball, but playing the player, and that is why it would be considered an offense punishable by a free kick. Without more information, it is really hard to say, sorry.

It doesn't make any difference what he uses to knock people down, it's foul play. If he fairly challenges for the ball and an opponent falls to the floor all is well.
Regards,
