Question Number: 17744Law 5 - The Referee 11/7/2007RE: Competitive Adult Melissa of Chapel Hill, NC USA asks...A semi-final game had to be stopped half way into penalty kicks because the facility's lighting extinguished. How do you resume the match? Answer provided by Referee Steve Montanino That depends upon the rules of competition for your league. If I had to guess they would probably take 1 of 2 options.
1. Kicks will be resumed where they left off.
2. The entire kicks procedure is repeated.
Those are just guesses, check with your league for the answer - there are other options at their disposal different from the 2 listed above as well.

View Referee Steve Montanino profileAnswer provided by Referee Gary Voshol If they could get the lights turned back on within a reasonable amount of time, things should resume where they left off.
If the game had to be completed at a later date, in addition to Ref Montanino's guesses, there is a 3rd option - replay the game in it's entirety. That is the FIFA position for an incomplete game if the league does not have a policy that says what to do. Not sure if that applies to a game that was completed, and now we're into Kicks From The Penalty Mark to determine a winner.
