Question Number: 17903Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct 11/13/2007RE: COMPETITIVE College SANDILE MAMBA of MBABANE, HHOHHO SWAZILAND asks...1.What is the rulling if an own goal is score by a defending player from a cross inside 6 yards when there is an offside player just behind him(the offside positioned player never made contact with the ball nor the defender nor was he obstracting the goal-keeper's view of the ball)
2.What is the rulling if a defender after receiving a pass from a team-mate,jugles the ball then finally heading it back to his goal-keeper who handles it?(A South African profesional refree cautioned the defender then placed a free kick aginst the defender on the weekend)
3.An indirect free kick within the six yard area-how do you count the 10 yards from the ball?do you maintain 10 yards or not? Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol 1. Goal, credited to the opposition side, if the ref determines there was no offside involvement.
2. Caution to the defender, IFK restart for the opposition - good call by that RSA ref.
3. I presume you mean a kick inbound. The ball is moved out to the edge of the goal area, the 6 yard line. Opponents can be closer than 10 yards from the ball if they are on the goal line between the goal posts.

If he did something, yelled at the defender, blocked a view, etc. , call the offside and restart with IDFK. 2) Only possible answer is caution to the defender for UB. It matters not whether the GK catches it. IDFK from the spot of the juggling. 3) If the ball is inbound (kick for the attack) the ball goes on the top of the goal area line, as per Law 8, and all defenders must be ten yards away, or on the goal line between the goal posts. Outbound, all opponents must be 10 yards from the ball and outside of the penalty area. The ball is in play when it leaves the penalty area.
