Question Number: 18021Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct 11/28/2007RE: Rec Under 19 Peter of Stockton, CA USA asks...This question is a follow up to question 18006 Hi
Just some follow up information [18006], the girl from Team B did NOT strike the player from team A. What is in question is what falls under "attempting to strike"?
To me this means that you actually try to hit but miss. To me it does not mean "you would really really like to hit the person". The player did really really want to retalliate, but was prevented from doing so by the center ref and team mates.
Cheers
Peter Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer I trust what you saw was the all the level headed folks present intervened before the swing happened. However if all the level headed folks did actually prevent the "young lady" from committing violent conduct did she not act in a violent manner before there intervention. Did their intervention subdue her violence by offering substantial physical force that would have resulted in harm to the "young lady" had she continued on her quest to retaliate?
Does running into a brick wall of level headed folks constitute an act of violence? You were there, I wasn't. If I was there I might have been able to evaluate the "look" on the "young lady's" face and make a determination whether or not the match more productive to do that day.
Regards,
