Question Number: 18047League Specific 12/2/2007RE: Adult Mick Lawlor of Stoke on Trent , Staffs England asks...Has the advancement of a free kick of 10yds due to dissent beeen resinded as it no longer is applied? Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson It was tried as an experiment but has fallen from favour and was never implemented as actual policy within FIFA. I felt it had merit more so than the two referee system yet I see the two referee system being used but not the ten yard advancement go figure! Cheers

While the experiment yielded some positive results, there was some considerable confusion and some new problems emerged, so the concept was scraped. Perhaps it will be reconsidered at some point, but for now the idea has been abandoned and it was never the law.
