Question Number: 18721Law 7 - Match Duration 4/8/2008RE: Rec Under 16 Dave of Des Moines, IA usa asks...Questions about the following viedeo:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgFtIUOAbGA
If you can ignore the somewhat questionable sub-titles. And of course we don't know the complete situation but... The game ends with an interfered corner kick. I know that play can end when time is up, but perhaps more time could have been added considering the injury time?
If time was left, what would the restart have been? The assistant is signaling for a goal kick so it must have gone out off of the kicker. And since there was mis-conduct by a sub during play and on the field, wouldn't the restart be an IDFK? What if the person who interfered had just been sent-off? Would the restart then be a drop-ball?
Something else. Could the center had just let the corner kick commence or should you always stop for an injury if it happens before a restart? Tough situation! Never had anything like that in the rec leagues. Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer This shows the referee was in over her head. The players controlled the match not the referee. The substitute who interfered with the corner was cautioned for entering without permission [or should have been]. I would have gone back to the corner kick.
If the entire match was like the film clip perhaps I would have ended things and gone to the locker room too. One wonders how the Olympic Football is going to be if things like what happened in the clip continue.
Regards,
