Law 13 - Free Kicks 7/23/2008

RE: Competive Other

Donat Paulin of Campbellton, N.B., Canada asks...

This really happened in an U-18 game. The goalie was taking a goal kick. He was trying to past the ball to his own player on the side of the 18 yard line but instead he kick the ball over his own goal line between the goal post and the end of the 18 yard line. Is this a corner kick or re-take the kick..?

Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson

Retake!
The ball must completely clear the boundrylines into play.
The ball was NEVER in play only knocked accidently into touch thus a retake!
Cheers
