Question Number: 24204Law 7 - Match Duration 10/20/2010RE: High School Varsity High School Rico Kappy of Middletown, PA USA asks...A shot is kicked from about 35 yards away from goal. As the shot is in the air, the horn goes off to end the half. The ball goes in the net clearly after the horn sounds. Does the goal count? Answer provided by Referee Dennis Wickham The referee must judge the location of the ball when the horn sounded? A goal is scored only if all of the ball was across all of the goal line. 'Ball in the air' or 'ball in the net' is irrelevant. This is not like basketball.

Once play has ended a goal cannot be scored. The referee has to judge the location of the ball when the horn sounded. If all of the ball had not fully crossed the goal line before the horn then no goal has been scored.
