Question Number: 33489Other 6/29/2019RE: Rec Adult Russell of Sydney, Australia asks...Unfamiliar ground markings on Copa America field. Am wondering why there is a noticeable line running parallel approximately a meter out from the goal line in the goal area of the Arena Corinthians used in the Copa. Can be seen at both ends. https://www.yoursoccerdose.com/11881859-colombia-vs-chile-copa-america/ Answer provided by Referee Jason Wright Hi Russell, To me this just looks like a field marking for a different field layout that they've made an effort to remove - usually by painting green. Either that or the groundskeeper was having a really bad day when they first marked the field!

There is a minimum field of play size for international games so the existing field size may not have met those dimensions particularly if the pitch is not used frequently for internationals.
