Question Number: 7611Law 14 - Penalty kick RE: Rec and Select Under 14 Scott Burchfield of Auburn hills, Michigan USA asks...Could you please clarify this law:..Law 14 - When a penalty kick is taken during the normal course of play, or time has been extended at half-time or full time to allow a penalty kick to be taken or retaken, a goal is awarded if, before passing between the goalposts and under the crossbar:..* the ball touches either or both of the goalposts and/or the crossbar, and/or the goalkeeper....Does this mean that it has to touch 2 of the 4? And with the goalkeeper does that mean a deflection or would even possession by the GK result in a goal?..Thank you. Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer Scott all this means is a goal is scored if the ball is found in the back of the net after it has been kicked and any energy present in the ball causes it to wind up there. ..It says the penalty kick is complete when the ball is stationary, or there is no chance of a goal being scored, or the referee says so. ..Regards,
