Question Number: 15506Law 13 - Free Kicks 5/17/2007RE: Competitive Under 14 Kevin Gillis of Altamonte spgs, FL USA asks...This question is a follow up to question 15491 Perhaps I was not clear in my previous question [15491]. I was specifially referencing fouls in the other (attacking) 18. That is to say an INDFK inside the 18 toward the near goal-not like an away free kick from the near half.
Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer I understood you ask if there are any infractions that result in an indirect free kick instead of a penalty kick when given by the defence inside their own penalty area. I answered there are indirect free kick offences listed in Law 12 that, when committed, result in an indirect free kick being awarded. That meant anyplace on the park.
If you are under the impression all free kicks, given up by the defence inside their own penalty area, are penalty kicks your impression is incorrect.
Regards,
