Question Number: 15588Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct 5/24/2007RE: rec & select Robert Herndon of San Marcos, Texas USA asks...This question is a follow up to question 15562 Player A is attacking with the ball. Player B runs between Player A and the ball, even though the ball is within playing distance of Player A. Player A smacks into him and falls down. Player B is standing still when the collision occurs.
What is the call?
Sorry, here is the missing information from question 15562: Players A and B are opponents. Player B does not play nor attempt to play the ball. Player A collides with him. Answer provided by Referee Keith Contarino Thanks for update Robert. What you describe, if I understand correctly, is a player stepping in front of an opponent with no intention of playing the ball and interferring with the opponent's ability to get to the ball. No contact, punish with IFK for impeding the progress of an opponent. Since there was contact, punish with DFK for holding.
