Question Number: 15712Law 11 - Offside 6/6/2007RE: Rec. Under 13 Kevin of Boxford, MA USA asks...This question is a follow up to question 15532 A-1 has the ball and is over the half line and moving toward D-1, D-2 and the goalie. A-1 puts a move on the D-1 and gets past him with the ball and now has a clear breakaway toward the goal. D-2 which was on A-2 falls down. A-2 now is running behind A-1 toward the goal. Can A-1 pass back to A-2 or would that be offside? If A-1 shot and it came back out to A-2 would A-2 then be offside if the defense had not come back yet? Answer provided by Referee Ben Mueller That is fine! A2 is not closer to goal line than ball so he is NOT in an offside position. Player must be closer to goal line than both - ball and 2nd last defender and on attacking half to be considered offside. No offside here!
