Question Number: 16437Law 11 - Offside 8/26/2007RE: AYSO Under 15 Blane Sanchez of Isleta, NM US asks...This question is a follow up to question 16419 Same scenario [as in 16419] except the ball bounces backward off the back of a team mate and is played by an opponent behind the second defender who plays the ball. Is this too offside? Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer Blain, does the ball bouncing off the back of any player mean it touched him? Before you answer remember touched by has the same meaning as "made contact with" AND offside is a simple thing...
You might want to remember when Law 11 tells the referee there's an offside offence.

View Referee Chuck Fleischer profileAnswer provided by Referee Keith Contarino Blane, I'm confused. Are you saying the defender plays the ball off the back of HIS teammate to an opponent in offside position? There can be no offside if this is the case.
