View Referee Michelle Maloney profileAnswer provided by Referee Gary Voshol It is stated in Law 11 that offside does not apply on 3 restarts - goal kick, corner kick and throw-in. For an aid in remembering these, note that all of them involve the ball having left the field.

There is no offside infraction on a ball received directly from a teammate on a goal kick, corner kick, or throw-in. It also doesn't matter if the ball on the way to the player in offside position touches an OPPONENT. You can download The Laws Of The Game at www.fifa.com.
