Question Number: 778 RE: Amatuer College Ashley Bowkett of Brighton, E Sussex UK asks...What would happen if when a player was taking a free kick and shooting towards the goal. He runs up, and while running loses his boot - the boot hits the ball and amazingly the ball goes past the GoalKeeper and into the net. Would this be classed as a goal?..Also, what happens if he kicks it with his bare foot and scores? Is THIS classed as a goal??.Thanks. Answer provided by Referee Gary Sebalja to answer your second question first the player must be wearing some type of footwear before play can be restarted. As for your first question I believe that the player would have to replace his/her magic boot and take the kick properly as the law requires the ball to be kicked not hit.
