Question Number: 20161Law 4 - Players Equipment 10/5/2008RE: Rec. Under 19 Chuck Jones of Ketchikan, AK US asks...This question is a follow up to question 14889 What if the player is asked if he has shin guards on and as the game is ending it is discovered he lied and did not have shin guards (goalie wearing long pants), what is to be done? Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson The players are still under the jurisdiction of the referee up until they leave the field after the match. So are we talking parking lot or some time still to go near the end of the match or the match is over but at the technical area as they change? The fact is USB and a caution show a yellow card for the blatant deception is certainly to be considered in anything but the parking lot . The keeper is required to be on the field, if the match is yet to be completed we stop and put on the shinguards. We could consider a second caution for delay of the restart if they decided to not substitute the keeper particularily if they are not doing it post haste? Perhaps a stretch but if he was asked but lied earlier the caution could be a double for the deception as dissent and failing to be properly attired. Certainly report the misconduct in the match report no matter what the result or circumstances if you are aware this was done . That said CHECKING the equipment is a responsibility of the officials and while we can see a padded outline a knock to ensure the shinguard is on takes but a second . Tis a mighty STUPID keeper that would take such a chance in a competative match Cheers
