Question Number: 12414Law 16 - Goal Kick 3/22/2006Andy of Ipswich, u k asks...If a goal keeper is taking a goal kick, and a gust of strong wind puts the goal back into his net who guts awarded the goal Answer provided by Referee Keith Contarino That would be no one. A team cannot score upon itself on any restart. So, if the ball went over the penalty area line, wasn't touched by any player on it's way b ack, the restart is a corner kick. If the ball never left the penalty area, the restart is a goal kick. If any player touched the ball after it left the penalty area, the goal would be either an own goal or for whomever on the opponent's team touched it
