Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct 3/23/2006

RE: I'm not sure High School

Tom Barwick of Woodstock, Ga USA asks...

My daughter plays on our high school varsity team and also plays for one of the local select teams so I get to see a vast difference in the quality of refereeing. The select games being pretty well refed (if thats a word). In a game last night, the opposing keeper juggled a shot and dropped the ball. One of our forwards kicked the ball from under the keepers hand just as the keeper dove for the ball and got an outstreched hand on the ball. Is that considered under control, if the keeper has trapped the ball on the ground with one hand (the two players go to the ball at the same time)?

The distinguished panel of referees is still discussing this question. We will have an answer shortly. Thank you for your patience.
