Question Number: 12586Character, Attitude and Control 4/18/2006RE: Other ahmed yasir of male' , maldives asks...i would like to know your opinions on the ways in which a coach can assist referees either on or off the field through his/her coaching..
an example might be the coach instructing players not to harrass the referee or question his judgement on the field..
can you let me know of any other useful ways?
thanks,
ahmed from maldives Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer Coaches need to know the Laws of the Game, that knowledge needs to be passed on to their players.
The best thing a coach can do is not tolerate bad behaviour in his players. Behave poorly and you get to watch not play. That infers the coach's behaviour is unimpeachable...
Regards,

They should know the Laws of the Game and teach their players that on the field, what the referee says, goes. I agree with ref fleischer. WHen I was coaching, any of my players that misbehaved, got to watch the games from the bench
