Question Number: 13301Law 1- The Field 7/10/2006RE: Recreational Under 12 Chris of Sydney, NSW Australia asks...Law 1 states that "Both goalposts and the crossbar have the same width and depth", but Decision 2 of the IFA Board states that the goalposts may be square or rectangular.
I cannot see how this can be consistent.
So my question is how do the various hierarchies of rules (Laws, Decisions and FIFA Q&A's) interact and which body is ultimately responsible for deciding what is acceptable?
Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer The decision does not say if the right post is a rectangle the left post and crossbar will be the same. This is something inferred, just like a player sent-off is not replaced.
Who decides what is acceptable is the International FA Board.
