Question Number: 13356Law 18 - Common Sense 7/17/2006RE: Rec Adult Ted Robey of Columbia, MD Howard asks...What is the purpose of the bib/vest/pinnies worn by the players on the sidelines? I noticed both at World Cup and MLS. Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson HI Ted, it signifies they are NOT players but Subs . You might notice they get up and often stretch and try to limber up along the touchlines. This is so no official will confuse them with a player. Cheers
