Question Number: 13624

Kicks From The Penalty mark 8/31/2006

Gary Voshol of Royal Oak, MI USA asks...

This question is a follow up to question 13563

Re 13563 on order of kickers in Kicks from the Penalty Mark:

Ref Fleisher mentions bullet point 7 in the Laws. This bullet point addresses when both teams have scored the same number of goals after each team has taken 5 kicks. Therefore "in the same order" can only refer to the TeamA/TeamB kicking order, not individual players.

Bullet point 10 applies after all players have taken one kick:

"Each kick is taken by a different player and all eligible players must take a kick before any player can take a second kick"

This says nothing about the order of players.

Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer

That is the point I was trying to make Gary. But it is vague enough for some referees to misinterpret. Keep on keepin' us honest Gary, thanx.

Regards,
