Question Number: 13968

League Specific 9/29/2006

RE: High School

Liz Currier of Dexter, NY USA asks...

A player in our league was red carded in a previous game. We were under the impression that he would not be allowed to play his next game. However, His next game was against our high school team and there he was bigger than life. When we questioned his presence on the field we were told that the league had dismissed the red card.. Is this possible?? And if he isn't allowed to play what would the outcome be??Forfeit?

Answer provided by Referee Ben Mueller

Thats up to the league. Usually its at least 1 game.

Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer

The requirement a player misses, at least, the next match applies only to matches played under the Laws of the Game. US High School does not play under the Laws of the Game as the rest of the world does.

It is also possible the league in question did rescind the referee's decision to disqualify the player. Again, these things are peculiar to US Hich School competition played under NFHS High School Soccer Rules.

If the league has taken the action you sa,y filing a protest is a waste of time.

Regards,
