if i passed a ball to my teammate, and he shot, it deflected off the goalie right back to him, and then he kicked it in, do i still get the assist on that play?

The Laws of the Game do not mention assists in scoring goals, just what a goal is. Statisticians keep track of those things and only they know how they gather statistics.
