Kicks From The Penalty mark 11/11/2006

RE: College College

Thomas F. Manavalan of Bangalore, Karnataka India asks...

Our game went into a penality shoot out. After the 5 kicks the score was 3-3. So it went into sudden death. In the sudden death one of the players from our team who was substituted during regulation time took one of the kicks. Is that OK. The followong day the team said that the substituted player cannot take kicks and protested. Should we re take the penalities.

Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer

No, your substitute was a legal participant. The protest should be found invalid.

Regards,

Only players on field may particpate. Any player that was on field may take the keeper position however. What you did was legal.

Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson

Hi Thomas.
No reason to retake at least by the way you descriobe it!
A substitute who is legally exchanged with a player during the match becomes a player and is entitled to participate if he was on the field as the match ended. Only an injured keeper can be substituted once KFTPM has begun and only if the legal amount ofsubs has not yet been exceeded.
Cheers
