RE: Rec and Competitive Other

Austin of Dekalb, IL USA asks...

This question is a follow up to question 14355

With respect to the new FIFA fitness test, can you please tell me where I can get a "hard copy" of the actual test? [14355 refers]

I would like to advance as a referee, but the one thing I lack, admittedly is fitness. Therefore, I want to test myself under the new standard and see where I'm at.

Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer

Austin I could not find a "hard copy" of the test that is why I asked
Esfandiar Baharmast, Director of Advanced and International Referee Development: United States Soccer Federation to help out with the answer. You should not concern yourself with international standards. The Referee Administrative Handbook, available on line through US Soccer contains the minimum standards you should maintain.

Once you attain those you may work to best those standards. Bottom line is being able to run for the duration of the match you referee. Work to be able to sprint 100 yards, turn around and come back the same distance then hold an intelligent conversation with someone like you will have to on two quick turnarounds followed by a caution for something. Do that and you will be fitter than most, if not all, Grade 08 referees.

Regards,

Look in the referee admin. handbook. The passing scores are listed in the book. Also, look on your state referee programs site. They are usually listed on there. Here is my site for WI. http://www.wisref.org/upgrade.asp Scroll to bottom for fitness test requierments.
