Question Number: 14810Law 14 - Penalty kick 2/6/2007RE: High School Varsity High School Brad Harman of Columbia, SC USA asks...During the taking of a PK, one team enchroaches before the kick is taken. The ball enters the goal. What is the restart if it is the Attacking team? If it is the Defending team? What if the ball does not enter the goal? How is it different for US High School and USSF/FIFA?
thanks as always!!!! Answer provided by Referee Ben Mueller 1. If ball enters, then....attacking team cheats = rekick and defending team cheats = kick off (goal stansds) 2. If ball does not enter, then....attacking team cheats = IFK for defenders at point of infraction. defending team cheats = rekick.

View Referee Ben Mueller profileAnswer provided by Referee Keith Contarino what Ref Mueller states is correct, but... if you watch professional games you'll see 5-10 players all running with the kicker as he approaches the ball. This is because Law 5 gives the referee the discretionary power to deem any infraction as "trifling", which, apparantly, professional referees deem infinging on a pk to be.
