View Referee Keith Contarino profileAnswer provided by Referee Richard Dawson Hi Ronan, if you read law 8 Special Circumstances A free kick awarded to the defending team inside its own goal area is taken from any point within the goal area. A goal kick is in fact a free kick and it again states in LAW 16 Procedure The ball is kicked from any point within the goal area by a player of the defending team.
If the ball is placed to be kicked and then picked up and replaced in another spot we could consider this a form of time wasting and could caution for that misconduct. It is not manditory we do so, meerly suggested if, it is apparant that is why it is done. Cheers
