Question Number: 1525

RE: Rec Under 14

Julz of Portland, ME USA asks...

I am a goalie for my team and i dont under stand when i goal kick or throw the ball..Please help me!!

Answer provided by Referee Lamb

Julz,.Thanks for writing... okay... when the ball goes over the side(touch)lines, then it is a throw in. If it goes over the endlines, it will be either a goal kick or a corner kick. If the ball is last touched by your opponent and goes over the endline, then it is your goal kick. If your team last touched it and it goes over the endline, then it is the other team's corner kick. For example, you make a great save with your hand, and the ball deflects off of your hand over the goal into the parking lot. Well, since you last touched it, it is the other team's corner kick. Likewise with the throw in, if your team touched it last, it is the other team's throw in. Inversely, if the other team touched the ball before it went over the sideline, then it is your throw. I hope this helps.
