Question Number: 15505

Mechanics 5/17/2007

RE: competitive Under 15

don mogorit of Fort Collins, co usa asks...

This question is a follow up to question 15485

Thank you for your response [15485]. I forgot to add that the parents are on the opposite touch line from the benches, so any propblems are to be addressed by the referee's crew, unless the coaches can go over at half time to ask for better behaviour. We did not make it to half time. In our league it is forbidden for spectators to directly address players, removal from the area is the discipline.

Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer

Don you might want to fix the yelling spectators who direct their frustrations at the referee. Unless this is handled you'll find it harder and harder to retain referees.

Regards,

Answer provided by Referee Ben Mueller

I concur with my colleague. Many referees quit each year due to abuse from spectators and coaches and players. Let's prevent this.
