Question Number: 16652Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct 9/12/2007RE: Rec Adult Shah of St. Louis, MO USA asks...Questions:
1. Is toe kicking illegal or not allowed?
2. When would a refree make a call on toe kick the ball?
3. if there are players around the ball but I get to it first and toe kick, is that illegal?

Answer provided by Referee Steve Montanino 1. Of course kicking the ball with your toe is allowed - it's not great technique, but it's absolutely allowed.

View Referee Steve Montanino profileAnswer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer Coaches may not want you to kick with your toe because it is not all that accurate. My team occasionally practiced without boots just so they could learn another reason to not kick with the toe. The Laws mention nothing about how the ball may be deliberately played except, of course, with the hand or arm.
