Answer provided by Referee Keith Contarino A goal kick is awarded when the attacking team lasts touches the ball and it goes over the endline and does not score a goal. The goal kick is taken from any spot inside the goal area. The goal area is the small area inside the penalty area. Any member of the defending team may take a goal kick. A goal kick is not in play until the ball completely leaves the penalty area. No one may touch the ball until it leaves the penalty area. If they do, the goal kick must be retaken. No opponent may be inside the penalty area during a goal kick but any teammate may be. Hope this helps
