Question Number: 17004Law 9 - The Ball in and out of Play 10/1/2007RE: Adult mick leadbeater of wakefield, uk asks...hypothetical senario, the ball is kicked towards the touchline but hits the assistant referee and bounces back into play, the ball never actually goes out of play, is the correct procedure to play on as the assistant is part of the field. Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol That is correct. The next thing you do, at the next stoppage, is to move all the fans back from the line out of the AR's way so he will not have to be so close to the line as to prevent the ball from exiting.
