View Referee Gary Voshol profileAnswer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer Actually a goal kick is the restart of play after the ball crosses the goal line having last been touched by a member of the attacking side. A direct free kick is the restart of play awarded after one of the ten direct free kick offences has been committed by an opponent. From both restarts a goal may be scored directly from the restart.
