Question Number: 17385Law 10 - Method of Scoring 10/18/2007RE: competitive Under 13 tristan of hemet, ca usa asks...on a corner kick, if i kick it and it goes in off of some one on the other team, who does the goal go to? Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson Tristian be it a deflection or a defender's mistake, the goal is one for your side. As a team sport be happy. As the corner kicker you can hope it is from your effort not an accident and take credit. Whether the statistician will say so I have no idea. But if I was your Coach you get full credit in my books. Cheers

However, if the ball was not going into the goal or could not go in from your corner kick, then the "credit" for the goal would go to the defender who put it in his own net. He is charged with what we call an "own goal", and unfortunately for you - you cannot award yourself the goal.
If on the other had the ball was going into the goal and it was merely deflected and the path of the ball barely changed, then you are credited with the goal.
