Question Number: 18118Kicks From The Penalty mark 12/12/2007RE: REC Other FARIS of LA MIRADA, CA USA asks...This question is a follow up to question 18111 MY QUESTION REGARDING Q#18111,LET SAY THE GOALKEEPER GOT INJURED AND THE TEAM SUBSTITATE FOR HIM IS THE NEW GOALKEEPER ALLOWED TO TAKE ONE OF THE KICK FROM THE PENALTYMARK. Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol Yes, the new goalkeeper would be one of the players eligible to take one of the kicks from the mark. In fact, if all the other players on his team have already had a go, and we are still continuing because the number of scored kicks is equal, the new keeper must take the next kick.
What I don't believe I've ever seen addressed is what happens if the original goalkeeper took a kick before being injured and subbed out. Common sense tells us that the original and substitute keepers should be treated as if they were the same player. Thus, the new goalkeeper would not be eligible to take a kick until all the rest of his team have had their turns.
