Question Number: 18373Law 15 - Throw In 2/14/2008RE: Under 17 Akshay S Dinesh of Mattanur, Kerala India asks...If a throw directly gets into the net without being touched by anyone else, will it be considered a goal? Answer provided by Referee Michelle Maloney No, because a throw-in is considered to be an indirect restart - in other words, the ball must touch a player other than the thrower before entering the goal in order for it to be counted as a goal. Otherwise, having not touched a player going into the goal, the restart will be either a corner kick or a goal kick, depending on whether it was the defense or offense that threw the ball into the goal.
