Question Number: 18410

Other 2/20/2008

RE: competitive High School

steve of mpls, mn usa asks...

This question is a follow up to question 18191

Do you know what miles are deductible? If I leave from work, do I just record the additional miles traveled (beyond my normal loop) ?

Answer provided by Referee Steve Montanino

I think that is correct...

I only know the laws of the game. I do not know the laws of the tax.

So I would suggest checking with the IRS, or your local friendly neighborhood accountant.

Again, we are just referees here, we ain't the IRS so we can't offer guidance in the matter.

Answer provided by Referee Keith Contarino

You may deduct the extra miles to and from the soccer fields. You may also deduct anything you buy to be used when you referee including shoes, undershirts, rain gear, hats etc. so save ALL your receipts.
