Question Number: 18679Law 9 - The Ball in and out of Play 4/3/2008RE: grade 8 Under 15 Bill astalos of Aurora, Ohio USA asks...The thrower makes a good throw-in and the ball goes over the touch line in the air and then blows back over the touch line prior to touching anyone or hitting the ground.
Is this a change of possession? Answer provided by Referee Michelle Maloney Well, look at it this way. The ball was properly thrown in, so it was in play. Then it exits the field last touched by the team of the thrower, so under Law 15, the ball is awarded to the other side for a throw-in.
